Berlin will celebrate the first Record Store Day - Support Your Local Record Dealer

Techno is vinyl! The medium of the DJ is more than just molded plastic. It‘s the physical endproduct of the artist‘s creativity, it‘s a workingtool and a collector's item with a very special sound experience. To celebrate this great medium a group of American vinyl-lovers joined together in 2007 and organized the first Record Store Day. After a great start in the United States the RSD has also been held very successfully in London for the last three years, where the best stores joined forces.

Now Berlin, the techno capital will finally have its own Record Store Day.

The variety of record stores in Berlin is unparalleled in the world. From All-In-One stores to specialized shops you can find everything what your vinyl-loving heart desires. But in modern times of file-sharing, MP3 and online-stores, the local record store faces hard competition. Yet we can‘t do without. They are sanctuaries for DJs, music-lovers and enthusiasts alike. Here you can meet like-minded people, exchange views on current or rare releases or just hang about and enjoy your favorite music.

On Record Store Day all of the participating shops throughout the city will present something special for their customers. They will offer single-releases and limited editions of their favorite labels and will host in-store gigs by their favorite artists in order to make it a special day for their community. Many labels have announced to take part. Look forward to exclusive releases by Wolf & Lamb, Minus, Mobilee, Items & Things, Dirtybird, Keinemusik, Smoke N 'Mirrors and many more.

Come to the coolest record stores in town on November 5th, 2011 to celebrate along with the world‘s hippest record labels and a diversity of artists the first official Berlin Record Store Day in conjunction with the BerlinMusicDays (BerMuDa).
